abstract

conclusions given the significant prevalence of postoperative cognitive disorder and significant associatio n between the history of high blood pressure, c-reactive protein and preoperative creatinine and cognitive disorder, detection of patient’s clinical symptoms may improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disorder. patients and methods in total, 171 patients who had undergone off-pump open-heart surgery and lacked any history of psychiatric disorders were enrolled. samples were selected according to a purposive sampling method. the mini-mental state examination questionnaire was used for these patients to assess the incidence of cognitive disorder 24 hours after the operation in icu and to compare creatinine level, esr, extubation time and patients’ age in the two groups, one with postoperative cognitive disorder and the other without it. independent t-test was used to compare the two groups regarding any history of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, chi square test was used. results in total, 75% of patients had postoperative cognitive disorder. there was a significant association between the history of high blood pressure, c-reactive protein and preoperative creatinine levels in both cognitive disorder and control groups. background cognitive disorder is a fluctuating cognitive destruction and a common problem for hospitalized patients, which leads to loss of consciousness. it is usually accompanied with increased mortality, prolonged hospital stay, and decreased rehabilitation. objectives the purpose of this study was to determine risk factors associated with cognitive disorder after open-heart surgery.

Patients’ Cognitive Status and Its Related Factors Before Coronary Artery Bypasses Grafting

Introduction: Cognitive status of patients before Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) affects their activities of daily living. Evaluation of cognition status and its related factors can help caregivers to plan suitable care programs. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the patient’s cognition status and its related factors before CABG. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study...

Atrial fibrillation following off-pump versus on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting: Incidence and risk factors.

BACKGROUND Postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia that occurs after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). New surgical techniques, particularly off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB), are thought to be less invasive and results in fewer complications, i.e. AF, but available data are inconsistent. The aim of this study is to present the incidence and risk factors of AF ...

Off-Pump Versus On-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, prospective cohort study

Introduction: Coronary artery bypass grafting is a surgical operation that bypasses atherosclerotic coronary vessels and restores blood flow to the ischemic zone of hearts. And two different conventional methods are ON-pump CABG, and Off-pump CABG.  Altogether, the efficacy and safety of these two types of surgical procedures are still under debate. In this study, we aim to com...

A Propensity Score Analysis of Renal Dysfunction in Patients after On-Pump and Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

INTRODUCTION- Cardiovascular disease has emerged as a major health burden worldwide with coronary artery disease [CAD] causing highest mortality and morbidity. Coronary revascularization is the preferred treatment for patients with multivessel CAD. Based on the application of cardiopulmonary bypass [CPB], Coronary revascularization can be on-pump [OPCAB] or off-pump [CABG].The CPB is known to h...

Evaluating off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.

Evaluating Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting To the Editor: We read with interest the article by Sedrakyan et al.1 The authors found that off-pump surgery was associated with a reduced risk of stroke, atrial fibrillation and surgical wound infections as compared with on-pump. If the results were presented as events, the reductions were translated into 10 fewer patients with stroke, 80 wi...
